Key US-specific rules
- The US is one of the few countries that allows a natural smile (but no teeth-showing grins).
- Glasses are banned since November 2016.
- The background must be plain white — no off-white, cream, or grey.
- Photos must show the full head from top of hair to bottom of chin.

- Take a photo against a white wall with even lighting.
